Rome, Georgia: Wildlife Media’s Beartrek, a
feature-length documentary film about threatened species of bears from
Alaska to Borneo, is proudly sponsored by Metzeler Motorcycle Tires.
But more than just a film, Beartrek is also a nonprofit campaign with the
mission of comprehending and conserving Planet Earth’s bears and their habitats.
Metzeler Motorcycle Tires were chosen for this project for their ability to
provide the film team’s BMWs with reliability and access to remote locations.
The Beartrek motorcycle adventure documents biologist Chris Morgan’s
journey into the wilds of Alaska,
Mongolia, Borneo, India, Peru, and Spitzbergen. In the wilds
of these locations Morgan and his crew of Joe Pontecorvo and Chris Palmer are
filming the more unusual of the world’s eight species of bear, from Black and
Brown to Sun and Sloth to Polar, each of them classified as endangered or
vulnerable.
The first two phases of filming have just completed in the wildly
differing climates of Alaska and Borneo. When finished, the feature film will show the
Beartrek team’s world-wide adventure, capturing their travels and their times on
location with various species of bears and ethnicities of people. In some sites,
the relationships between man and mammal are defined by competition, while at
others it’s cooperative cohabitation where the needs of each fulfill the needs
of the other.
Metzeler is joined in its support of Beartrek by many companies, such as
Arai Helmet and Patagonia, and many
individuals. Beartrek’s $1.6 million production includes its donation of 25% of
the proceeds to individual conservation projects around the globe. In addition,
all profits from the film will benefit bear conservation and Wildlife Media’s
next motion picture and campaign.
