From Red Bull Press
Punk/pop stars Angels & Airwaves
will perform live between the two Red Bull Experiments on New Year's Eve at
the Rio All Suite & Hotel in Las Vegas. Joining them throughout the night
are Boys Like Girls, Mix Master Mike, Slow Children and Vitamin D, who will
be the house DJ for the evening.
The two Red Bull Experiments are attempts at Guinness World Records: Robbie
Maddison, a freestyle motocross star, will jump the length of a football
field on a motorcycle, and Rhys Millen, a top Hollywood stunt driver and
Formula Drift champion, will attempt to be the first person to ever
backflip an off-road racing truck. This lineup of musical acts is sure to
add to the excitement of the evening.
ROCKING AT THE RIO
Founded by former blink -182 singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge, Angels &
Airwaves has performed their self-described "hybrid of punk rock and new
wave music" on such shows as The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night
with Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as the 2007
MTV Video Music Awards. The band is currently supporting their sophomore
album, "I-Empire," which debuted in the top-ten on the charts in early
November. The band's performance will be live on New Year, No Limits: New
Year's on ESPN, which will begin immediately after the Chick-fil-A Bowl
game, approximately 11:15 p.m. ET/ 8:15 p.m. PT.
"It's always an honor to be a part of a New Years Eve special," said
DeLonge. "But being that it's ESPN and Red Bull just makes it that much
more exciting for us since we know that we're going to be a part of the
best New Year's Eve special out there. What more can you ask for on New
Year's Eve than Angels & Airwaves and death-defying acts from dudes that
must be crazy to even consider doing what they are attempting to pull off
that night. I know I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out for
them."
COMPLETING THE BILL
Boys Like Girls got its start on MySpace in 2005, and has toured across
America, so this Boston-based band will be recognized by many. The quartet
was voted 2006 Artist of the Year by readers of Spin magazine.
Another recognizable name is Mix Master Mike, one of the most recognized
West Coast DJs in the industry. He has worked with the Beastie Boys, and
has collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne, Tommy Lee, Rob Zombie and Joss Stone,
among others. He is known for his heavy-hitting bass and intricate scratch
routines. He is often credited with inventing the "Tweak Scratch."
Fans can expect some local flavor from the Las Vegas favorite Slow
Children. Originally from Oregon, they recently relocated to Sin City where
they have been performing their alt-rock to a huge following.
Vitamin D, or Derrick Daisey, as he is also known, started as a house DJ in
the Los Angeles rave scene in the early 1990's. He has toured the world and
also has put out releases on more than 40 labels. His techno beats will add
to the night's already diverse lineup.
Tickets for the public to witness the Red Bull Experiments and enjoy all of
the musical acts can be purchased for $12 at www.newyearnolimits.com and at
the Rio Box Office. Day-of tickets will be available as well.
