*Royce McLean to race for Team Oliver Yamaha in 2008!* Five time Canadian National Champion Royce McLean will be joining Team Oliver Yamaha for the USGPRU 125cc Grand Prix series Championship. Thirteen year old McLean will be under the direction of AMA 250GP National Champion, Rich Oliver. The USGPRU events will be held throughout the United States and Canada and the team will debut at the first race, March 8-9 at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, AZ. Royce will be riding two Yamaha TZ125 road racers prepared by the team in his quest to capture the overall series Championship. With support from both Yamaha USA and Yamaha Canada, the TZ125’s will have full factory race kits and special engines prepared directly by Oliver. In order to insure the ultimate in competitiveness, Royce will race in 2008 on Dunlop tires. Rich Oliver comments, “I’m excited to get back into racing with Royce. He's a very special young man with incredible talent. I found him through my **Mystery School. After he completed five Ultra Pro Camps, it was obvious he has the determination and ability to become a National Champion. 'I look forward to mentoring Royce and building him the very best Yamaha race bikes possible so that he can get experience at the front of the pack. We know that there are very good riders on very fast bikes in the USGPRU, so we will all have to work extremely hard to win!.’ Royce's Dad Todd comments, "We are really excited about the 2008 racing season! Royce was offered two great opportunities this year when he was selected not only to the 2008 Red Bull AMA U.S Rookies Cup, but also to ride for Team Oliver Yamaha! 'But after negotiating with Red Bull we felt that we could not combine the many requirements of their contract with our previous commitments, so we chose to work with Rich. Rich’s vast experience in road racing is amazing and the one on one training that Royce will receive will be invaluable. 'Royce will also be able to learn much more technically about motorcycle chassis set up and engine/gearbox tuning by running with Oliver. The opportunity to race for Team Oliver Yamaha has far surpassed the original goals that we had hoped to achieve at this point in Royce's career, and we are excited to get started and learn as much as possible!" Royce comments, "I am really looking forward to riding for Team Oliver, working with Rich is awesome. I am excited about being on a competitive bike built by Rich, improving my podium finishes, and going after the USGPRU 125 National title.
