MotoGP fans are in for a treat this weekend as the 2008
Portuguese Grand Prix provides the backdrop for the launch of a new way for them
to connect online to indulge their shared passion for the sport – MotoGP
Impact.
New MotoGP branded Internet telephony, Instant Messenger and SMS
solutions will be available at the official MotoGP website at www.motogp.com to unite fans who follow the
MotoGP series.
Launching in Estoril this weekend, MotoGP enthusiasts
around the world can now share in the experience and excitement of the series by
uploading and downloading MotoGP team and sponsor-specific content, as well as
generating their own content to share with other fans.
Through MotoGP
Impact, fans will be able to make the cheapest Skype-type phone calls, send and
receive SMS messages, and use the Instant Messaging service, which pulls in
their existing IM contacts for ease of use. Fans will also be able to
participate in competitions, fan forums and chat rooms set up by themselves or
by the teams, sponsors and riders; so whether they’re at the track side or at
their computer they can still be part of the excitement before, during and after
the race.
To become part of this exciting new community all fans need to
do is download the MotoGP Impact package from website (www.motogp.com) where a simple registration
process will connect them into the MotoGP-branded community. They’ll also be
able to pick up some free content and goodies by answering five quick questions.
Targeted advertising will bring them information of relevant products and
services.
MotoGP Impact is a partnership between Dorna Sports S.L. and
Global e Networks Holdings. MotoGP Impact is a permanent fixture that is set to
create a longstanding, vibrant and rich online community.
Andy Brown,
CEO of Global e, added, “MotoGP Impact will take an offline community that
is huge and globally spread, and convert it into an online community that offers
real benefits to the fans, teams, sponsors and the MotoGP series
itself.”
Each race in the MotoGP series is watched across the world
on television and by large crowds at trackside. motogp.com attracts 24 million
hits every month, of which over 4 million are unique users.
