Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Hayden Undergoes a Second Successful Surgery

Irvine, Calif. (April 24, 2008) – Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Roger Hayden underwent successful surgery on Thursday morning in Louisville, Ky. to repair his left pinky finger.

Doctors removed some bone and continue to clean out debris that was inside his finger, threatening infection. Since the doctors don’t think they have fully removed all the debris, there is possibility of a third surgery to control any lingering infection.

“We are glad that things are moving along,” said Preston. “We are in no hurry or rush to get him back on the bike. We want him to heal properly and be at his best when he makes his return.”

His injuries, which he received while riding in the AMA Superbike qualifying session on Saturday, April 19, included a broken pinky and fractures of his pelvis. His pelvis has also been evaluated and will not need surgery.

An estimated return date is not expected until after he is released from the hospital.

If you would like to send get well wishes or correspondence to Hayden, please send to:
