MICHAEL JORDAN MOTOR SPORTS LOOKS
AHEAD TO INFINEON RACEWAY
Yates and May
Ready for AMA Superbike Doubleheader
Aurora, IL (May 12,
2008) -
Michael Jordan Motor Sports Suzuki riders Aaron Yates and Geoff May head to
Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, May 16-18,
2008 for the
fourth of 11 events in the AMA Superbike Championship. May, Jordan Suzuki’s newest rider, hopes to
revisit the podium this year at the 2.23 mile road course, while Yates,
currently in first place in the Superstock Championship, seeks his fourth podium
finish of the new season in the 17-lap AMA Superstock
race.
In 2007 at Infineon, both May and
Yates qualified their Superstock GSX-R1000s for the all-Suzuki front row. May, starting from third position, grabbed
the hole-shot and led the first lap before taking the checkered flag in second
position, ahead of Yates, who qualified second and finished seventh. May earned a podium finish of his own this
season and would love to challenge Yates for the coveted top spot on the podium
in Sunday’s Superstock event.
A strong podium finisher at
Infineon, Yates holds the honor of being the only rider to earn wins in six
different classes of racing action (Superbike, 600 Supersport, 1000 Superstock,
750 Supersport, SuperTwins and SuperTeams).
In 2007, he also gave Jordan Suzuki its first-ever front row position in
the premier AMA Superbike class. In the
last round of AMA Superbike action, Yates ran in third position in both races
before losing traction on the speedway surface.
This week, Yates hopes to prove he has the skill and the Superbike power
needed to return his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to the podium. May will also compete in the Superbike
doubleheader aboard his production-based Suzuki in the two 28-lap races
scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
