CARMICHAEL WINS IN SAN FRANCISCO
Ricky Carmichael raced his RM-Z450 to an 8.5-second victory at Saturday night’s San Francisco Supercross at AT& T Park in California.
The Makita Suzuki rider – taking part in his last West Coast Supercross ride of the season as he opts to take up NASCAR Racing – gated third behind Chad Reed (Yamaha) and James Stewart (Kawasaki) in the 20-lap Main Event.
He took the lead at the mid-race point when both Stewart and Reed slipped off and was never challenged from then on.
He said: “It feels great to win but it was difficult out there. From the 10th lap I was riding real tight and holding my breath. I’m going to take a few weeks off now to concentrate on some driving then I’ll be back for the Atlanta Supercross.”
Team mate Ivan Tedesco gated his RM-Z450 in the top seven but crashed before the halfway stage, eventually finishing 14th.
