After only the time it takes to do a lap had elapsed, everything had changed at Brno. A few drops of rain were enough to create confusion, and race direction had to delay the race, and then shorten it, because two warm up laps took place. Then they declared a ‘Wet Race’ - which means the grooved tyres – rain or intermediate – are allowed, and the race would not be interrupted in case of ‘real’ rain.

Pilots, mechanics, and technicians: everybody looked at the sky to understand its plans.

At the second green light the whole grid started with slick – DIABLO SUPERBIKE – tyres and they were right: not a single drop of rain felt during the 19 laps.

For the rear everybody opted for the soft solution, while at the front they made different choices. So that while Haga with a soft front was leading the race, Corser with a medium front did an amazingly fast lap, setting 2’00.674.

Race pace was great, even faster than the predictions, and the tyres lasted for the whole race, so that the total time compared to last season’s Race 2 (adding one lap with the same time as the 19th) shows an improvement of more than 35 seconds!

Biaggi took the lead on lap 13 and then finished the race in this same leading position Toseland had enjoyed in the opener, but Toseland is still clearly the championship leader. There was a third podium position for Michel Fabrizio, now in good shape after set-up changes between the races, and he is definitely comfortable on this racetrack.
