When it comes to engine management in
motorcycle racing, the name Bazzaz is synonymous with Performance.
Bazzaz
Performance was started in 2003 out of a clear need for expertise in the area
of engine management and electronics for the top tier of professional
motorcycle racing. After working as a
race engineer at Yoshimura R&D for six years and helping Mat Mladin bring
home his first 3 AMA Superbike championships, Ammar Bazzaz decided to start
Bazzaz Performance in an effort to fill this need in the racing market,
ultimately with the goal of bringing this same technology and knowledge to the
average racer and motorcycle enthusiast.
Entering the high profile AMA Superbike scene in 1997, at the same time
as Electronic Fuel Injection, Bazzaz has been instrumental in its
implementation, tuning, and application for the better part of 10 years.
From humble
beginnings in the garage of his home, Ammar Bazzaz quickly expanded the
company’s exclusive engineering and design capabilities into the design and
manufacturing of engine management electronics for the motorcycle racing
industry. Completing its second
expansion in the last three years, Bazzaz Performance now operates out of an
8,500 sq. ft facility in Chino, CA housing both R&D as well as
manufacturing operations. Bazzaz
Performance has been designing and tuning high performance engine management
products for the top tier of motorcycle racing since its inception.
Joining forces
with Tucker Rocky Distributing, Bazzaz Performance has now committed to bring
this high tech world of exclusive electronics down to the performance rider
level. The new Z-Fi line of products
from Bazzaz Performance offers innovative, state of the art engine management
technology that is easy to use with an affordable price. Bazzaz Performance is upping the ante on
what a rider should expect out of his/her aftermarket engine management
electronics. Never before has technology at this level been offered to the
general public.
In addition to
designing and bringing race proven technology to the mainstream market, Bazzaz
Performance is a proud sponsor of Michael Jordan Motorsports, and continues to
work with professional racing teams such as such as, American Honda, Don
Schmacher Racing, and Safety First Racing.
Z-Fi Fuel Control Unit
The
Bazzaz Performance Z-Fi Fuel Control Unit differs significantly from what is
currently available in the marketplace in a number of ways. Bazzaz Performance
has developed an in-line unit that precisely controls fuel delivery to optimize
engine performance. It is a plug and play unit that piggy-backs onto the stock
ECU. Each unit comes with an
application specific harness that utilizes OEM connectors for simple installation,
and comes pre-programmed for either the stock exhaust or a slip-on. The Z-Fi
also features a USB interface with easy to use software, allowing tuning
modifications by the end user. The Z-Fi
is the first piggyback system on the market that can run up to 8 injectors
independently. This translates into ease of tuning and significantly better
performance on applications that utilize 8 injectors like the Suzuki GSXR1000
and the Honda CBR600RR. The Z-Fi can be run and/or tuned using the closed-loop
self mapping feature with the purchase of the optional Z-AFM kit.
• Supplied with application specific harness
for easy Plug and Play installation
• Pre-programmed with 2 maps, one for stock
and one for a slip-on exhaust
• Comes with easy to use software and USB
cable making tuning a snap
• Self mapping capability with purchase of
optional Z-AFM Kit
• Runs up to 8 injectors independently
• Features gear dependent fuel trims
• Stores two maps, Switchable “On the Fly”
MSRP dependent upon model: $299.00 to $399.00
Z-Fi QS with
Quick Shift
The
Z-Fi QS (Quick Shift) integrates the all the same features of the Z-Fi
controller with an updated version of the popular Bazzaz Performance QS-4 Quick
Shift all in one unit. Customer
feedback on the QS-4 led Bazzaz Performance to develop a new shift sensor for
improved reliability, which now also includes an application specific adapter
rod for ease of installation. The Z-Fi QS unit employs race proven “QCK”
technology for seamless clutch-less up shifting. It has user adjustable gear
dependant kill times allowing for optimal shifting in all gears. The kit comes
complete with control unit, harnessing, shift switch, and adapter rod.
• All the same features of the Z-Fi
• Allows for full power clutchless
up-shifting for faster lap times
• Rugged shift sensor with application
specific adapter rods for
easy installation
• Gear dependant kill times for optimal
shifting in all gears
MSRP: $849.95
ZFi
TC – with Traction Control
The
Z-Fi TC (Traction Control Unit) has all of the same features as the Z-Fi QS
with the addition of user adjustable traction control. The Z-Fi TC brings traction control
technology from the highest levels of professional racing down to the average
racer. The Z-Fi TC does not require any
additional sensors to be mounted to the bike, and is fully legal for AMA Super
Sport and Super Stock competition.
Countless hours of racetrack testing and tuning were used to distill the
complicated nature of this technology into a simple and intuitive tuning
interface using the Z-Fi software.
Traction control is easily adjusted by Throttle Position, RPM, and Gear
to suit any track or riding condition.
Adjustments on the fly can be made with an optional TC adjust switch,
making tuning even more simple.
• All the same features of the Z-Fi QS
• State of the art Traction Control
technology for faster lap times
• Adjustable by Throttle Position, RPM, and
Gear for optimal performance under all riding conditions
• Intuitive software interface for easy
tuning
• Uses stock sensors only, AMA Super Sport
and Super Stock legal
MSRP: $999.99
Z-AFM –
Air Fuel Mapping Kit
The optional Z-AFM kit consists of an air fuel sensor and
amplifier box that plugs into the any of the Z-Fi products, and allows for
closed-loop tuning of the motorcycle.
Closed loop tuning means that as the user rides the bike, on the track
or on a dynamometer, the Z-Fi automatically makes adjustments to the fuel
delivery in order to optimize performance.
The user has the ability to set a target air fuel ratio, and view the
recommended adjustments using the Z-Fi software. The user can choose whether to have the adjustments applied on
the fly, as the bike is being ridden, or after the fact once the recommended
adjustments have been reviewed. The
Z-AFM kit offers optimal performance without the time or cost of a custom dyno
tune. The kit comes with all of the
required hardware, but may require modification of the exhaust pipe to accept
the air fuel sensor fitting. Many
manufacturers, like Yoshimura, make versions of their existing pipes with the
sensor fitting already built in.
• Plug and Play installation with any of the Z-Fi products (may
require pipe modification
to accept sensor)
• Allows for closed-loop self tuning
• Allows for optimal mapping without the time or cost of a custom
dyno tune
• User adjustable target air fuel ratio for performance and fuel
economy
