Saturday was an up and down day at the track for Team M4 EMGO Suzuki at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. After a solid performance qualifying for Sunday's Superstock and Supersport finals, the squad had a difficult outing in the Formula Xtreme final that concluded the day's activities.

Geoff May picked up a pair of second-row grid positions on Saturday. He was fifth fastest aboard his Pirelli-shod GSX-R1000 in the Superstock session despite suffering a fall in the turn 2 chicane halfway through the session. May rebounded to post a 1: 26.130 and has his sights set upon a return to the Mid-Ohio podium in tomorrow's 16-lap final.

May then qualified his GSX-R600 Supersport racer in sixth position with a quick lap of 1:27.887 around the 2.4-mile circuit. His teammates, Martin Cardenas and Michael Beck, will start the 60k Supersport race from a couple rows back as Colombian Cardenas was 13th at 1: 28.808 while Californian Beck was 16th at 1:28.957.

After Supersport qualifying, Cardenas turned his attention to the FX race. He got away well at the green light, running in seventh position for the race's opening five laps but was eventually forced back into the pits for a quick repair of his equipment. He made his way back out on the course to finish the race and was ultimately classified in 36th position.

Cardenas said, "I had a good start and was running pretty strong but a few laps in we had some problems and I had to go in for a pit stop."

Looking ahead of tomorrow's Supersport race, he added, "I'm still looking for the right set-up with the bike. This is a difficult track. It's been one of the hardest tracks for me to learn and it has some really difficult sections. I'm hoping that tomorrow morning we will find the right set-up and then we will see what I can do."
