Cupertino,
California (August 8, 2007) – Ducati North America
announces today the winners for the third round of the Superbike Concorso, a
celebration of Ducati Superbikes, which was held during the AMA Superbike race
weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The four winning
Superbikes were chosen from an impressive array of original and custom Ducati’s.
The People’s Choice ballot went to Chris Calovini’s 2000 996, with a chrome
frame and “tricolore” paint
scheme. Peter Calles was awarded Best Original Superbike for his 1977 900SS, on
which the odometer read an incredible 213 original miles. The award for the
“Best Modified” category went to Tom Buoniello’s tastefully modified 2002 998S
Bostrom replica, complete with the signature Bostrom paint scheme.
Announcer Ralph Sheheen
took the honors of bringing the event to a close, and the highly anticipated
“Best in Show” award went to Mr. Robert Lawrence, for his immaculately restored
1974 750 SS “Green Frame”- a model that is amongst the most coveted of Ducati’s
factory Superbikes.
Currently,
there is an online round of the competition in progress at www.ducatisuperbikeconcorso.com,
where people can log on
and vote for their favorite Superbike. The next round of the Superbike Concorso
will be held at Road Atlanta,
August 31-September 2, 2007 in conjunction with the AMA Superbike Championship
event. The Grand Finale will take place at Mazda Raceway Laguna
Seca, September 16, 2007.
