Aurora, IL (September 11, 2007) – This weekend, Michael Jordan
Motorsports Suzuki riders Aaron Yates and Jake Holden return to Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca for the AMA Superbike Championship season finale. On Sunday, September 16th, the
2007 AMA road racing series will conclude after all four classes, including the
Jordan Suzuki entries in Superbike and Superstock, cross the checkered
flag.
In July, the Jordan Suzuki team
participated in an abbreviated AMA class schedule alongside the U.S. Grand Prix
(MotoGP), with both Jordan Suzuki riders competing only in Sunday’s 28-lap
(100K) Superbike event. At that time,
Aaron Yates earned the team its first AMA Superbike podium with a third place
finish. Yates later earned a second
podium in the premier class at Virginia International Raceway with another third
place finish. Yates seeks a strong
finish on Sunday to close the five-point deficit and move into third place in
the overall championship. He is
currently third in the Superstock championship points.
Jake Holden, who used his July track
time to prepare for the team’s return to Laguna Seca, hopes to give his crew
another podium finish in the AMA Superstock class.
Holden is currently ninth in
overall Superstock points and has earned three podium finishes (two second and
one third) for the Jordan Suzuki team this season. Holden, who also competes in the Superbike
series on a 2007 Superstock spec Suzuki GSX-R1000, placed eighth in the earlier
event.
On Saturday, both riders will
participate in early morning practices on the 2.238 mile course prior to
qualifying to determine their starting positions for the final events scheduled
for Sunday. During the lunch break on
Sunday, race fans can stop by the Jordan Suzuki transporter for rider autographs
before opening ceremonies and live racing action begins. The 17-lap (60K) Superstock event will race
first at 1:00 p.m. PDT, with the 28-lap Superbike class
competing at 3:00 p.m.
