Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki’s Jake Holden picked up his first national victory and his first
AMA Superstock win in the series’ last race of the season on Sunday afternoon at Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Holden also led the most laps in the race and had taken his
first-ever pole position on the previous day. Unfortunately, the 17-lap race was abbreviated due to a
red flag being thrown when Holden went down in another rider’s oil spill. With more than 50
percent of the race completed, the AMA called the race, giving Holden the win. This victory marked
Holden’s fourth visit to the AMA Superstock podium. Jordan Suzuki teammate Aaron Yates
followed Holden home in second place in the race. Yates finished up the AMA Superstock season
in third place overall, thanks to one win and four additional podiums.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s Ben Spies did not race in the Laguna Seca AMA Superstock race, having
wrapped up the 2007 AMA Superstock Championship at the previous round at Road Atlanta in
Braselton, GA. Newly crowned AMA Superstock Champion Spies won seven of the series’ races,
Yates won one and Holden won one – all on Suzuki GSX-R1000s, giving Suzuki a sweep of the AMA
Superstock season.

Jake Holden:
“It felt good to lead some laps and to get the win. I’m really happy for my Jordan Suzuki crew
because they’ve worked hard for me over the last several years and we’ve just been pressing
forward. It’s good to finally get the first one under my belt. But I’m not glad that they called the
race because I would like to have won it on the Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 with full laps. But it’s still
nice to get the win at the end of the season. Hopefully, we’ll get more wins next year.”

Aaron Yates:
“The race was really coming together pretty good for me. I’d had a few problems at the
beginning of the race but as it went on, things were coming together and I was going faster and
faster on the Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000. I knew I needed to catch Jake and I noticed I was coming
up on him. I was really looking forward to some fireworks at the end of the race because it would
have been nice to take the win in the last race of the season.”
